Celebrating the Life & Legacy of Clara D. Young
Clara D. Young (February 20, 1947 – August 28, 2025) was my mother, a woman of unwavering faith, a devoted parent, and a gifted gospel singer whose voice, strength, and spirit touched countless lives. She was known for her compassion, wisdom, resilience, and the love she poured into our family, her church, and her community throughout her life.
After courageously living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, my mom passed away on August 28, 2025, from complications related to Alzheimer’s. Caring for her through the advanced stages of the disease gave me and my family a firsthand understanding of the emotional, physical, financial, and practical realities of caregiving. We learned how difficult it can be to find affordable care, trustworthy information, meaningful caregiver support, and reliable family caregiver resources as a loved one’s needs change.
My mother’s journey became the inspiration for something much larger. In her honor, I created ClaraCaresMemory.ai to support caregivers of aging loved ones not only families affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia, but anyone navigating the realities of caring for an aging parent, spouse, relative, or loved one. Her legacy now lives through a mission to connect families with education, community, trusted professionals, caregiver resources for seniors, home-care options, financial and legal resources, mental-health and grief support, hospice and end-of-life information, and other practical tools families may need throughout the caregiving journey. The platform also helps families discover aging at home resources that may support loved ones who want to remain safely and comfortably at home for as long as possible.
My mom’s life also continues to inspire the Clara D. Young Legacy Foundation and the future Clara’s House, where the vision is to expand access to compassionate, affordable memory care for underserved families. Her name represents more than a memory. It represents a commitment to ensure caregivers feel seen, families feel supported, and aging loved ones are treated with dignity, compassion, and love.

I’m Dr. Charliette Cummings, a mission-driven founder, community advocate, and strategist committed to expanding caregiver support and helping families caring for aging loved ones access trusted resources, education, community, and practical guidance.
My work was deeply inspired by my mother, Clara D. Young, and by my own experience caring for her before she passed away in 2025 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. That journey showed me firsthand that caregiving affects far more than healthcare. It can impact a family’s finances, career, housing, legal decisions, emotional wellbeing, relationships, and plans for the future. It also revealed how difficult it can be to find comprehensive family caregiver resources when a loved one’s needs begin to change. In her honor, I founded ClaraCaresMemory.ai, Clara’s House and Community Center, and the Clara D. Young Legacy Foundation.
As Founder and CEO of ClaraCaresMemory.ai, I lead the development of an AI-powered caregiver education, resource, and community platform designed to support people caring for aging parents, spouses, relatives, and loved ones. The platform helps families access caregiver resources for seniors, expert-led education, community support, flexible work opportunities, legal and financial resources, home-care options, Medicare and Medicaid information, VA resources, grief support, hospice and end-of-life resources, and professionals who serve aging families. ClaraCaresMemory.ai also helps families discover aging at home resources that may support loved ones who wish to remain safely and comfortably in their homes for as long as possible.
I also serve as Founder and CEO of Clara’s House and Community Center and President of the Clara D. Young Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status pending, focused on dementia and Alzheimer’s support, caregiver education, and affordable memory-care solutions for underserved families. Through Clara’s House, my vision is to create a warm, homelike memory-care community in Pleasant Grove, Dallas, where quality care is not out of reach simply because of income.
In addition, I am President and CEO of Clanet Strategic Consulting, where I use strategy, technology, leadership, and partnership development to help organizations grow their impact.
My work is rooted in one belief: caregivers and aging families should not have to wait until a crisis to find help. They deserve trusted guidance, practical resources, affordable options, dignity, and a community that supports them throughout the entire caregiving journey.
